Mermaid & Dolphin

I was all set up to start my next project, a giant Mexican Aloe Vera, but then the train changed tracks.

We went to a glass shop to see about getting a glass insert for our front door. Everyone here has them as the foyers are very dark, so they are pretty much a necessity. Here is one of our neighbor's:
While talking to the owner, we got to talking about my quilts and I showed her a couple of photos on my phone. Then I asked her about her work, and asked if she made this:

She did. I asked if I could take a picture of it and she obliged. It is the perfect shape for that niche in the bathroom. So I started drawing:

...and combing the net for colorful reef formations like these:

I am going to have so much fun with this piece! Ideas are percolating!

In other news, I got some new golf clubs for my birthday. I was so excited I couldn't stand it. When I was a kid growing up, I got promised a lot of things that never materialized. Either my mom was just dreaming out loud or my dad drank the money, but it still affects me today. Until I have it in my hands and I'm out the door, I don't dare believe it will really happen.

Anyway, I digress. We drove to Carlsbad to the TaylorMade headquarters and it was a very big deal to me.

One of the guys in my neighborhood I play golf with, his son works there, and everyone is sporting new clubs lately. 40% off! But it's a secret, so don't tell anyone. Nobody is supposed to know this place exists, you can't get in without an invite. Oh, what fun! Kid: Candy store.

They had all kinds of everything, but all I wanted were the 3, 5, 7 fairway woods. I like my driver and my irons are fine, but I have never had a proper set of fairway woods. Never! When I attended a golf clinic at my course recently, the TaylorMade rep was there and I tried them out and fell in love. JJ suggested I get a new bag. I didn't need one but he said get it, so I did. Super lightweight and they will monogram my name on it. Hope they spell it right...

Saw this on the way home. Not something you see every day.

Well, that's all the news. Back to the drawing board...literally!
